KATI TUOMINEN-NIITTYLÄ (1947–) graduated as a ceramicist from the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 1976 and worked at the Arabia Art Department from 1989 until 2003, after which she became a freelance artist. She is now a member of the separate Arabia Art Department Society, whose members work on the ninth floor at the former Arabia factory in Helsinki.
She has won several Finnish prizes and awards but has also been successful in international competitions in Japan. Her large wheel-turned bowls and pots clearly reflect her professional skills as a ceramicist.
Tuominen-Niittylä has also designed products for Arabia that have been made in series, some of them in association with Kristina Riska.
Kati Tuominen-Niittylä lives in Pornainen and she is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC).
